Support Spay/Neuter for NYC's Feral Cats A Project of New York City Feral Cat Initiative

March 11 Update: Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! Because of your incredible enthusiasm, we are now doubling our goal and aiming to fund 4 clinics to spay/neuter and vaccinate 100 cats in targeted neighborhoods this spring! Will you help?

Spay/Neuter Saves Lives

Spaying and neutering feral and stray community cats fights overpopulation, decreases euthanasia at NYC's municipal, open-admission shelters, keeps animals healthier, and is cost-effective. The NYC Feral Cat Initiative (NYCFCI) of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals is currently offering a packed line-up of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) certification workshops to make sure that even more Certified TNR Caretakers are able to access free and low-cost spay/neuter services while they care for the stray and feral cats in their community. In addition to these workshops, increasing the capacity for spay/neuter is a critical component of reducing the outdoor cat population in New York City.

Throughout the month of March, we are asking you to help us fund 4 spay/neuter clinics dedicated to volunteer caretakers and cats living in high-need areas of the city. The ability to host local spay/neuter clinics for target communities can greatly increase the effectiveness of TNR projects. And more spay/neuter means fewer litters, fewer cats living on the streets, and less euthanasia!

How Does Your Donation Help?

In partnership with The Toby Project, the Alliance and our NYCFCI will host spay/neuter clinics this spring that benefit caretakers and cats in particularly under-served communities. With your support we can schedule 4 additional clinics on behalf of our Certified TNR Caretakers.

An average cat has 1–8 kittens per litter and 2–3 litters per year. In just 4 days — thanks to your partnership — we can spay or neuter and vaccinate 100 community cats, and keep hundreds more kittens from appearing on our city streets this spring and summer!
